EXERCISES IN STYLE  The Italian style in New York Various expressions of the living or the culture of living characterized the exhibition Exercises in Style, organized by Abitare Italia, association constituted by Ice, Assarredo and Assopiastrelle, in order to support and to bring in the USA the culture of the Italian furnishing. The project, organized by Studio Cerri & Associates, has found, in a setting constituted not by objects but by abstract or virtual scenes, the premise for a reflection about the living, inspired by various expressive languages and designs. The designers invited proposed an interesting and rich reflection, with innovative proposals about design languages. From arch. Deganello, who tried to give an alive shape to inanimate materials, to the Mediterranean house by Rizzato with a strong poetic connotation, to the space of Citterio built around fabric courtains that, in fluctuating and virtual way, reflects an hypothesis of welfare and quality of the living. The installation of Studio Azzurro, Sogni Materiali (Material dreams), projected moving images on a series of interactive tables, with shapes able to remind the daily living, animated by virtual figures. The work of Claudio Silvestrin expressed itself with a monolith able to have different functions in only one shape, obtaining with a linear setting a passage from an architectonic object to an use-object, with a variation of volumes a different configuration in space. A multi-level reflection and in more solutions, as exercise that promotes new codes in living, articulated by different expressions of every single designer.
