 EGIZIA

Egizia was established fifty years ago, starting experimenting the possibilities of direct manual serigraphy applied at blown glass working process, which has a long tradition going back to the Medici time in the area between Empoli and Colle Val d'Elsa.
At the end of the millennium, Egizia intends to celebrate its first 50 years creating a "company museum" and doesn't seem to get old. In fact, it keeps renewing its production even thanks to its extraordinary technological know-how.
Some years ago the co-operation between Egizia and Sottsass Associati produced the line Handle with Care, which has an international and understandable design and will be enriched with new essential objects and complements decorated with fresh lines. The vases Fuzzy by Defne Koz are part of this new collections. They are decorated with small silver pois manually serigraphed on the transparent blown glass which look as if they are flying away, swept the same breath of wind which bent the vase rim. The same decorative technique with manual silver serigraphy on transparent glass gives the plates Ellisse by Barbara Forni a light image and an ethereal whirl with thin and bright orbits.
Hand-blown glass, with three layers and decorated with manual silver serigraphy, shapes the vases Stitch by Nanae Umeda. They're simple cylinders in coloured glass. Their refined working and the silver lines stretching one after the other on the surface provide them with precious and fair charm.
