 COWPARADE FLORENCE 2005


Arrives in FLORENCE CowParade Firenze 2005, the greatest exhibition of public art all over the world. From October 25, 2005 to January 20, 2006 a coloured drove of cows will be installed along the streets and in the parks, an open air exhibition where contemporary art is framed by Renaissance art.
This year emerging artists will be associated with international level artists (among the others Stefano Fiaschi, Sophie Fatus, Fabio de Poli, Simone Frasca, Altan, Guido Daniele, Fabiana Fiorini, Flora Vannetti, Francesco Fagnani, Kore, Janet Mullarney, Daniele Nannini, Andrea Rauch, Gian Paolo Tomasi) to transform the fibreglass life-size cows into tridimensional canvas displayed in the City.

CowParade was ideated in Zurich on 1998 by the sculptor Pascal Knapp to promote the shopping centre of the city. The initiative had a great success and now Cowparade has reached 25 cities around the world, from NEW YORK 2000 – with works by Yeshema Taylor, Edwina Sandys, Jack McConnell, Joseph Colosi, Pawel Korczakowski, MILKdesign, Silvestri California, Dee Shapiro, Shirin Zade, Corinne Grondahl, Richard Meyer, Cristina Vergano – to SIDNEY 2001, from TOKIO 2003 to PRAGUE 2004 – with a work by Antonín Kopp – (and also STAMFORD 2000 – with works by Bronz & Esposito and Sandy Garnett –, HOUSTON 2001 – with a work by Scott C. Dadich –, KANSAS CITY 2001 – with works by Charlie Prodrebarac and Diane Flynn-Yi –, LAS VEGAS 2002 – with works by Smokin' Joe and The Arts Factory –, LONDON 2002 – with works by Martin Hall, Katie Harper, Terry Bell-Halliwell and Dani Crompton –, DUBLIN 2003 – with works by John Waid, Sarjit Verik, Brian L. Keele, Eileen d'Esterno and John Rocha –, AUCKLAND 2003 – with works by Greg Skinner and Jill Jessup –, WEST HARTFORD 2003 – with a work by Juan Andreu and Mike Dowdall –, ATLANTA 2003 – with a work by Jonathan E. Fenske –, SAN ANTONIO 2003 – with a work by Molly Garwood and Peter Garwood –, MONACO 2004 – with works by Fabien Seignobos, Alexandre Coerten and Œuvre collective –, STOCKHOLM 2004 – with works by Richard Lower and Caroline Schlyter –, MANCHESTER 2004 – with works by Stephen Dunne and Dinosaur –, JOHANNESBURG 2004 – with works by Phillip (Phatz) Letebele and Clive van den Berg –, SÃO PAULO 2005 – with works by Jarbas Agnelli, Angeli, Bia Fioretti, Giba Reis, Chico Coelho, Marcello Serpa, Guto Lacaz and Sinval Garcia –, BUCAREST 2005 – with works by Alexandru Daniel, Lucian Cucu-Costeanu and Valentina Niculescu) with more than 4000 works and over 14 millions Euro assigned to charity.

Thanks to the collaboration with Grandi Stazioni the coloured cows of the drove welcome the passengers into the stations Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Milano Centrale, Venezia Santa Lucia and Roma Termini to remember the Cowparade of Florence.

One of the news of this edition is represented by the Baby CowParade for children, with 10 little calfs given to the children of Meyer hospital (the new pediatric hospital of Florence) and to artists and illustrators for an exhibition.
It's only thanks to the sponsors, the artists and the institutions that this project can carry out. Cows can be adopted by art lovers or by children lovers, or by simple lovers.

Organized in collaboration with the city hall of Florence and APT CowParade Firenze 2005 is aimed to help the Foundation of the pediatric hospital Meyer.
At the end of the event a public auction organized by Sotheby's will assign the amount to Meyer.
Among the happy owners of cow we can find Elton John, Rolling Stones, George Bush Sr., Rania di Giordania, Nelson Mandela, Havel, Ringo Starr, Oprah Winfrey.
