 LIVING TRENDS OBSERVATORY SAIEDUE 2001

Massimo Iosa Ghini developes the fascinating topic of The house of the heart, exhibition-convention in which, at the SAIEDUE Living 2001, the first result of the sociological analysis led by Lexis Ricerche has been reported and it showed current and potential requirements of the house exploring the new "wants & needs" of the final consumers. The installation - a veiled sheath of great scenic effect in which a third millenium domestic atmosphere prototype has been placed - remakes the contents of the search led by Prof. Finzi according to the most personal point of view of the designer.
In the era of the Internet, of the multimedia, the globalization, the emotional, deep and absolute investment on the "domus" is not at all in decline. And if the house notion gets wider, losing its original borders in order to expand its connotations beyond the domestic walls, the result of the search, however, show emerging meaningful tendencies of high interest for the entire furnishing field. A first tendency - called "loftism" - seems to punctuate, after the death of the kitchen, the progressive decaying of the corridor idea. Not only. From this survey emerges also the decay of an other historical division: that one between day-area and night-area, the prelude of the total abolition of the "division in compartments" of the domestic atmosphere.
The implicit multifunctionality in such a system seems to show up also on a linguistic level and between the neologisms proposed by the research the one "cugiorno" (kitchen and day area, ndt) seems full of innovative design implications that remake the superimposition of kitchen and day zone tangible - perfect synthesis of gastronomic efficency and relax. A surrounding in which activities considered till now alternative, if not quite anthitetic, will have to cohabit.
