BUT WHERE HAVE THE INVENTORS GONE? LORENZO DAMIANI

Lorenzo Damiani / Mondo / 2008 / by CAPPELLINI
Wool and viscose rug made by the tufting technique; 400 x 300 cm. The decoration is based on a classic Persian design in an allusion to the historic home of carpet making and a floral pattern, conveys a political and «auspicious» message. The presentation of the continents in a mirror image is meant as a reflection on the precarious nature of the balance between the rich and poor parts of the planet. Wool, traditionally employed in the weaving of carpets, is used to «outline the continents», while viscose, a modern material, is used for the sea. «Mondo» was presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2008 and won the Edida in 2009.
