MILAN INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR: SEATS 2004

In the new Target collection ESE/Ever So Easy, the objects take shape from graphic marks that evoke archetypical vital figures like of the “Mother Goddess”/“Mother Nature” in
chair or of the spiral generator of the golden measure in stool, all designed by Roberto Maci.
THs year Segis presents a great news: Uno - R606 - a chair with simple form suggesting the concept of hardness and flexibility, realized by Renzo Fauciglietti (the cretor of the innovative material R606) and Bartoli Design -, and Poppy Star - stacking chair for residential use and contract purpose, available in different colours and also designed by Bartoli Design.
Green proposes its pieces of furniture and secondary for the house, created by Cristian Gori: Lips - a chromed or painted steelrod chair with integral polyurethane seat and back -, Lips Stool - a swivel bar stool with base and structure in chromed or painted steel -, Sinuè Chair - a stacking chair with cromed or painted structure in conic section steel tube -, Sinuè Bar - bar stool with seat in fire-resistant polypropylene coloure -, Colibrì - swivel bar stool with adjustable seat height, with seat covered with fabric or soft leather -, Chloe - stacking chair available in different models - and, finally, Valentina - a stacking chair with alluminium structure available in different colours and shapes.
In the new Fasem collection: Ergo - chair, with structure consisting of four cast aluminium sections, conceived to play a broad range of roles in the home, designed by Archirivolto.
The production of Ycami tests different styles, possesses various identities, simple and variable, and matches several personalities: Hermana - an armchair in foamed polyurethane, with legs in die-cast aluminium - and Hermano - a stool in foamed polyurethane, steel frame covered with aluminium -, both of them created by Mario Mazzer, then Milano - armchair with backrest in anodised aluminium, designed by Opera Work in Progress- and Emblema - swivel chair in polymeric resin, height adjustabke seat with tilt mechanism on five star base, by Arph Design.
In this fair edition, Molteni&C presents a synthesis of its entire forniture and accesory collection for the "Molteni Home" and, particularly, Lean - chair and small chair with a slightly arched line avaliable with padded back, seat and arms, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni.
This year, Moroso presents its total living, or the infinite possibilities of interpreting day zones and waiting areas: Bloomy Chair - an armchair that evokes the vegetative beginnings of the flower, designed by Patricia Urquiola -, Three Skin Chair - chair powerfully sculptural and extremely sinous in multilayered lacquered wood, planned by Ron Arad -, Leaf - chair flaunt lean, clean lines, with a seat shell in a technopolymer-based plastic compound, by Carlo Colombo -, Dummy - a small armchair that derives its comfort and shape from a single sheet of polyurethane foam over a supporting structure, created by Konstantin Grcic - and Restless - a collection of elegantly proportioned seating created by Stephen Burks.
Kartell presents a varied collection based in transparencies: Charles Ghost - stool constituted by a transparent monobloc in polycarbonate - and Louis Ghost both of them designed by Philippe Starck, then Voilà - a folding chair created by Alberto Meda -, Nihau - "butterfly" chair avaliable in a wide range of delicate shades, designed by Vico Magistretti - and Mademoiselle - an innovative project for a small armchair, with the clever and brand-new combination of two different plastic materials and finishes, again designed by Philippe Starck.
Rossi di Albizzate presents its last innovative collection Softband, that includes: Dondolo - a curved multilaminate chair padded with soft moulded rofoam, with a metal support and a rocking base plate -, Duna - monobloc polythylene seated, moulded with a rotarymethod that enadle to create complex shapes - both of them designed by Pio & Tito Toso -, Shu - sofa and pouff with inner structure in metal tubing on elastic belts with detatchable back, created by Anna and Carlo Bartoli -, Nesting - armchair and pouff in monobloc polythylene moulded with a rotary method that enables to create complex shapes, planned from Adam Tihany -, Kanji - a single and a double easy chair padded with moulded rofoam and covered with a special stretch wool fabric designed by Bartoli Design.
Artifort presents its new collection that includes: Little Apollo - dining room version and younger brother of the "big" Apollo, producted since 2002 - and Boson - perfect chair for comfort and desing realized to optimize applied material to offer a new and plain seating system, minimizing the synthetic material to obtain an ideal balance between form and function - both of them projected by Patrick Norguet.
MDF Italia introduces the sculptural lines of Lofty – a chair, armchair and chaise-longue from polished steel or upholstered with fabrics or leather designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga.
Frighetto introduces Clarke - armchair with steel structure, swivel base and matching ottoman by Von Robinson -, Kab - armchair in compact polyurethane, also available hide covered by Karim Rashid -, Bloob - stool in integral polyurethane again designed by Karim Rashid - and Slide Lo / Slide Hi - armchairs and sofas available in three lengths and two heights, withsliding seat and adjustable back inclination by Taco Langius.
Heller introduces its Frank Gehry Furniture Collection - a new resin collection of seatings, tables and sofas designed by Frank O. Gehry - and the Vignelli Chair - resin chair designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli.
This year Magis proposes: Striped Collection - chairs, armchairs, low chairs, tables, stools, chaise-longue and sunbed designed by Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec - and Folding Air-Chair - a new version, suitable for outdoor use, with armrests of the previous chair designed by Jasper Morrison.
Perfectly balanced between play and functionality B.R.F. presents Ercolina - a sinuous sculpture-like form chaise-longue designed by Paolo Graselli, that, only when placed horizontally, reveals its function -, Morbida - armchair by Guido Venturini - and Smile - new version with swivel base of the armchair designed by Marko Macura.
In 2004 Felicerossi presents: 1,2 - an expandable modular seating system designed by Tim Power -, Divina - a multi-purpose and wrapping seat by Jacco Bregonje -, Lounger - a friedly flying "sittingbody" designed by No Picnic.
For its 50 years of activity, Zanotta presents Flori – armchair designed by Werner Aisslinger -, Isa – chair with a HiRek® sling, a special composite technopolymer, highly resistant, light, and 100% recyclable, designed by Raul Barbieri – and the reissue of the stool Spluga designed in 1960 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.
At Eimu 2004 Work & Emotion, Emmegi Seating presents Joy - collectivity seating system for conference rooms designed by FT&A.
Besides Giovannetti Collezioni producst stand out Gabbiano – seat awarded by gold medal in the last edition of Young & Design competition designed by Carin Silva Gil – and the new amazing Flower – armchair with steel frame and padding in shape-retaining polyurethane foam, covered with a protective tissue – created by Sandro Santantonio.
B&B Italia presents some new version of Mart by Antonio Citterio and Lazy by Patricia Urquiola. Among the news 2004 Dip and Double Dip benches - offering great visual impact and a strong presence with a sculpted appearance - designed by Chris Howker, a young English designer born in 1964.
Plank - just awarded the Interior Innovation Award Cologne 2004 - shows the chair in threedimensional plywood moulding Luna, designed by studio Cisotti Laube. The absolute preview Luna Stool is presented besides the also innovative seat collection Babà, Millefoglie - also designed by Cisotti Laube - Supersonic - designed by Björn Dahlström - and Paper - designed by Raul Barbieri and Anna Giuffrida.
This year Emeco presents a new light alluminium chair designed by Frank O. Gehry, fit for interiors and open space. The chair is a development of the Navy model 1006 by Emeco, the classical chair produced since 1945 for USA submarines, realized with the traditional Emeco's production cycle - 77 steps before finishing the product.

Ron Arad presents Lo-rez-dolores-tabula-rasa, a futuristic work in which sensuous installations in Corian© are brought to life by ephemeral images, music
and voices. Also premiered will be Arad's Oh Void, seating design, in coloured Corian©. Work and seats on view from April 14 to 19, 2004 at the Gallery Gio' Marconi in via Tadino 15.

Thonet, for the fist time in Italy during the Milan Furniture Fair, presents the new seat A 660 with clear and innovative design projected by James Irvine.

Ecart International presents a new version of the classical armchair berger, designed by J.M. Frank and A. Chanaux. Also on view some reproductions of other well-known pieces designed by french masters in the 20th and 30th.

During the Salone del Mobile 2004 design week Altra Design launched its first product, the Altra-ergo chair. Comfortable, ergonomic, durable and ecological, Altra-ergo is realized in pure first grade recyclable polypropylene resin and scratch-resistant photo engraved surface texture. Designed by Peter Solomon the chair was developed mainly for outdoor use.
